CHRISTMAS IN OCTOBER
NOT JUST OCTOBER . . Although Christmas in October (CIO) is known for our annual major October event - when hundreds of volunteers assist dozens of low-income homeowners around the metro - that's only part of our story. CIO assists homeowners (Elderly, Disabled, Veterans) with needed home repairs and home safety modifications year-round.
Volunteers don't need to have home repair skills - there are opportunities for everyone to help. Following is a survey link where you can tell us about your skills and interests. By completing the survey you will be added to our email list so we can keep you informed of future projects.
Also listed below are links to currently scheduled volunteer opportunities. The first opportunity listed below is assisting with clerical and other tasks in our office or warehouse. These tasks can be done at your convenience - some clerical tasks can even be done at your home.
August 25th Project - Mary is 91 and grew up on a cotton farm in Arkansas where her father was a share cropper who farmed with a mule. Mary and the other children worked in the cotton fields. The children attended a segregated one-room school during months when they weren't working in the cotton fields.
